These 15 Black Christmas Carols Are All We Want For Christmas [Playlists]

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Every good holiday tale starts off with a good rhyme, doesn't it? So let's kick this off right!

The snow is just beginning to fall,

The fire is burning just fine;

With boughs of holly we've decked the halls,

To bring in Christmas time.

Oven-baked are the cookies we've made

Of chocolate, sugar and ginger, too;

We share laughs over games we've played,

Like Uno and Spades and Taboo.

Each stocking perched atop the mantle,

And on them our names have been scribed;

The children are chatty and the elders ramble,

It's warm and toasty inside.

But now's the time for a holiday groove,

A staple this time of year;

Here's 15 carols to make you move,

And spread Black Christmas cheer!

1. "Santa Baby" - Eartha Kitt

Sultry and seductive, the legendary Eartha Kitt gave us good tune to get close to -- underneath the mistletoe, of course.

2. "Mary, Did You Know" - The Braxtons

The legendary Braxton sisters do an R&B take on a classic carol, full of smooth layering and soothing harmonies.

3. "All I Want For Christmas Is You" - Mariah Carey

The Queen of Christmas gave us this gem over two decades ago and it remains the highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 holiday hit in 60 years. It belongs on any and every Christmas playlist.

4. "8 Days of Christmas" - Destiny's Child

DC3 not only gave us a whole bop for the holidays, but some good gift ideas to get bae.

5. "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" - The Jackson 5

No Christmas is Black enough unless this top five hit is in the song rotation. Baby Michael, SANG!

6. "Do You Hear What I Hear" - Whitney Houston

From one of the greatest voices in history, this song is perfect to gather 'round and enjoy time with loved ones.

7. "What Child Is This" - Vanessa Williams

Early 90's Vanessa Williams gave us a jazzy rendition of "What Child Is This" and we are forever grateful.

8. "Let It Snow" - Boyz II Men

This one is for the lovers...

9. "Sleigh Ride" - TLC

TLC did it for the culture with this one.

10. "Silent Night" - The Temptations

Who can go wrong with The Temptations?

11. "Christmas In Hollis" - Run DMC

Classic Christmas... but make it hip-hop. *inserts Tyra meme*

12. "Christmas In Harlem" - Kanye West (feat. Prynce Cy Hi& Teyana Taylor)

Good music from G.O.O.D. Music

13. "Every Year, Every Christmas" - Luther Vandross

Let Luther sing any Christmas carol, please.

14. "Someday at Christmas" - Stevie Wonder

A voice like no other. The incomparable Stevie Wonder.

15. "DMX" - Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Sorry, we had to.

Happy holidays, Blavity fam!
