Memphis Rapper Snootie Wild Shot And Killed In Houston

The news of his passing was shared in a post on the rapper's Instagram page.

Memphis, Tennessee rapper Snootie Wild, 36, died from gunshot injuries sustained to his neck in Houston on Friday, The New York Post reports.

Houston police arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. and found a man believed to be Snootie Wild in a ditch next to an SUV. Officials attempted to give Snootie, whose real name is LePreston Porter, CPR before transporting him to the hospital, ABC 13 reports.

A neighbor recorded an altercation between the Memphis rapper and a group of people before police arrive on the scene.

"It looks like he backed in there [the ditch] accidentally. Then the other vehicle pulled up, and folks got out of the car. They were talking for a little bit, and then all of a sudden, gunfire went off. Only one shot, actually," officer R. Willkens said, according to ABC 13.

Soon after, people speculated that the "She's a Keeper" rapper had passed away, which was refuted by a post on his Facebook page.

"Snootie is not dead. But he's fighting for his life. Out of respect for the family, please refrain from sharing anything that is not communicated through his official accounts," the post read, XXL reports.

However, on Saturday, Feb. 26, his verified Instagram account confirmed the news of his passing.

"Gone in body, but your NAME & LEGACY will live forever! #TeamYayo4Life," the post read.
