Kenan Thompson offered an elegant response to his exclusion from photos of iconic Black comedians who shared the Saturday Night Live stage last week.
The former All That and SNL star seemed to have been cropped from an iconic photo featuring Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan, reports ET Canada.
The photo was derived from last Saturday's show, which included mention of Murphy's long-standing feud with Bill Cosby, as Blavity previously reported.
"If you would have told me 30 years ago that I would be this boring, stay-at-home house dad and Bill Cosby would be in jail, even I would have took that bet," Murphy said as the audience erupted in laughter.
"Who's America's dad now?" he said while executing a hilarious impression of the imprisoned comedian.
In the photo of the historic night posted on SNL's and Thompson's Instagram pages, he is seen proudly beaming as he was shown with the famous comedians.
Then in various other posts, Thompson is nowhere to be found.

Before you disrespect Kenan Thompson and crop him out of this photo, remember that this man has a 26-year long career — the bulk of it on SNL. pic.twitter.com/WEKHW3UGsV— rocket juju 🚀 (@juliacraven) December 22, 2019
I grew up watching Good Burger, Kenan & Kel, All That, then as an adult watching him on SNL. He is a legend & deserves more respect than he gets. It's disrespectful to crop him out & says a lot about you. https://t.co/fLfwqoV9rr— Ixxy 🏳️🌈 (@bluebird1059) December 22, 2019
Many felt Thompson was cropped out. But it is possible that some of the photos were from different moments as Thompson did come to the stage last. Nonetheless, the 41-year-old showed his gratitude for the internet coming to his defense.
It’s so very nice to see the love that’s being shown here today!!! I really needed that!! Glad y’all see me!!! Last night was legendary and I’m glad y’all feel I deserved to be in it!!!— Kenan Thompson (@kenanthompson) December 22, 2019
"It’s so very nice to see the love that’s being shown here today!!! I really needed that!! Glad y’all see me!!! Last night was legendary and I’m glad y’all feel I deserved to be in it!!!” Thompson wrote in a Sunday tweet.
Thompson hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and is known for his run on All That, which ran on Nickelodeon from 1994 to 2005.
In 2003, Thompson began his stint on SNL and has spent 16 years as a cast member.
Thompson is also a producer and comedian with 78 acting credits under his belt to include Cousin Skeeter, The Steve Harvey Show, Good Burger, Fat Albert, Snakes on a Plane and Sister, Sister to name a few.
In 2017, Thompson garnered the title as the longest-tenured cast member on SNL with 15 seasons right behind Darrell Hammond who spent 14 seasons on the show.
In 2018, Thompson won a daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and has two additional Emmy nominations.
Even without the accolades, Thompson and his co-star Kel Mitchell have been credited in the Black community with being the bee's knees, as previously reported by Shadow And Act.
