George Zimmerman Banned From Tinder And Bumble After Using The Dating Apps Under Fake Aliases

His profile was removed from Bumble for a second time in February.

Popular dating app Tinder has banned George Zimmerman from using its platform, citing user safety as the reason.

"At Tinder, we take our users' safety very seriously and our team has removed this profile from our platform," a spokesperson for the app said in a statement to HuffPost Sunday.

Representatives from Tinder didn't elaborate on why they deleted the 35-year-old's profile; however, the source did add the company invests millions each year to "prevent, monitor and remove bad actors who have violated our Community Guidelines and Terms of Use from our app."

He'd reportedly been using the alias of "Carter" on the app.

Zimmerman first garnered national attention after he fatally shot teenager Trayvon Martin in the chest on February 26, 2012. A neighborhood watch volunteer, Zimmerman argued he was acting in self-defense, so his attack on Martin was legitimate. A year later, a jury found him not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter.

Since his 2013 acquittal, Insider reports Zimmerman was detained on suspicion of aggravated assault and domestic abuse, although no formal charges were filed.

This app is not the first to ban Zimmerman from looking for companionship. According to a February report from The Orlando Sentinel, Zimmerman's account was also removed on Bumble. Per a statement from the app's representative, the Virginia native created a fake profile.

"George Zimmerman was blocked and banned in December 2018 when we first discovered his profile and we have blocked and banned him again after we were informed by our users that he had created a new unverified profile," the statement read.

Orlando Weekly first released screen grabs of Zimmerman's profile, which include one image of him in a graduation gown and another of a dog playfully licking his face.
