FAMU Renames Performance Arts Amphitheater In Honor Of Will Packer

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, comedian Kevin Hart, and more show up and show out for the FAMU alumnnus.

Famed film producer Will Packer is getting his flowers while he can still smell them. As part of Florida A&M University's homecoming festivities, the school honored Packer, an esteemed alumnus, by renaming the Performance Arts Amphitheater after him.

Will Packer has produced notable films such as Ride Along, Girls Trip, Think Like A Man Too, and served as executive producer on Straight Outta Compton. It was at FAMU that Packer began his filmmaking career. In 1994, Packer and fellow classmate/future business partner, Rob Hardy, produced their first film, Chocolate City. Since then, Packer has made a living showcasing the nuance and diversity of the Black experience. It's no doubt that he is deserving of being honored for his continuous contributions to the culture.

Also included in the day's festivities were Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim Rose, who filmed a broadcast of ESPN's First Take at the Amphitheater stage. Later that day, Kevin Hart and the Plastic Cup Boyz recorded their SiriusXM radio show live on campus.

Blavity U was in attendance to witness the unveiling of the Will Packer Amphitheater. Check out some photos from the celebration.
